Muggles S'up?
So, it has recently come to my attention that I may want to look into backing up my LJ.  I've heard of Insane Journal, but I don't really know anything about it.  Let's say I did want to back up my LJ, how would I go about that?  Where would I do that?  If I sign up for IJ can I just import all of my LJ entries and keep the comments on them?  Is there a place where I can do something like that?  Jeez Louise - I really just want LJ to stay the way it is.  Quite frankly, I don't care what corporate changes they make as long as it doesn't affect my life.  :p

What do you guys think?

I have no idea about IJ, but WS75 gave me this link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=143280&package_id=157384&release_id=403625

Download LJArchive and it saves a copy of your journal (inclu. comments) to your computer. :) Takes like 5 minutes?

There's also ljbook (don't have a link, just google it) but it's pretty impossible to access at the moment because everyone is freaking out and timing it out.

Have you seen the latest LJ news thing? They laid off half of their corporate staff in the US and now there's rumors that the site might shut down at some point in the future. I'm pretty sure it's all a bunch of malarky, but I figure it's better to be safe than sorry. (Sidebar: "malarky"??? Where did that come from???)

If you set up an IJ, you can use LJ Migrate to move your entries to it. It works through the command line, so you don't download anything other than the program to your computer. It doesn't move comments, though - no migrating program can do that, and like [info]perdiccas said, LJ Archive is the best option for saving a full copy of your LJ to your computer. There are some other options for saving and migrating here, as well.

Also, if you do set up an IJ, frieeeend me! I've got the same name over there. :D
